Project / Design Leader - Building Engineering

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Project / Design Leader to head multidisciplinary building engineering projects. You will guide design and delivery from inception through completion, working closely with clients and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex, multidisciplinary projects, coordinating Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Hydraulic and other engineering disciplines.
• Define scope, manage change, and ensure design solutions meet client requirements, programme schedules and budget targets.
• Oversee design management, technical inputs, interfaces and design reviews.
• Manage project delivery, financial performance, resourcing and risk throughout the lifecycle.
• Build strong client and stakeholder relationships, providing practical advice and resolving technical challenges.
• Contribute to business growth through client engagement, proposals and work‑winning activities.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in building engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Hydraulic or related).
• Relevant engineering qualification; Chartered status highly regarded.
• Proven experience in design management, project management and commercial/contract management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
