Production Coordinator – Cairns

About the role

The Production Coordinator will support shipbuilding projects in Cairns by ensuring supervisors and contractors have clear plans, timelines and quality standards. Working closely with site teams, you will help deliver work scopes on schedule, within budget and to safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan daily and weekly task requirements for allocated projects.
• Identify and communicate risks or constraints, escalating issues as needed.
• Assist in compiling and submitting OQE documentation.
• Monitor procedure execution and provide feedback to QA.
• Coordinate subcontractors: request quotations, raise purchase orders and verify work against specifications.
• Conduct employee performance reviews and counselling.
• Promote continual improvement initiatives and implement corrective actions.
• Support implementation of HSEQ standards.

Required profile

• Relevant trade qualification.
• Project management or supervisory experience.
• Strong interpersonal, people‑management and communication abilities.
• Eligibility for Defence Security Clearance and Defence Common Access Card (DCAC).
• Marine or ship‑repair experience and defence project exposure are desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using commercial CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
