Procurement & Contracts Specialist

About the role

The Procurement & Contracts Specialist reports to the Head of Procurement and provides specialist procurement and contract management expertise across the Port of Hastings Corporation and the Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal programmes. The role supports compliant, timely and cost‑effective sourcing of goods, services and delivery partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with PoHC and VRET programme objectives.
• Lead end‑to‑end procurement activities including market engagement, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, contract award and supplier onboarding.
• Ensure probity, transparency and audit readiness across all procurement processes.
• Manage a portfolio of contracts, monitoring supplier performance against service levels, KPIs and contractual requirements.
• Monitor procurement expenditure, contract commitments and financial performance against approved budgets.
• Resolve contract issues, disputes, variations and claims in a commercially sound manner.

Required profile

• Experience within Victorian or Commonwealth Government environments, including knowledge of VGPB guidelines and DTF requirements.
• Extensive hands‑on experience across the procurement lifecycle – sourcing, tendering, contract administration and procure‑to‑pay.
• Proven stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to provide expert guidance and strategic advice.
• Strong attention to detail, record‑keeping and ability to manage competing priorities independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and financial modelling.
