Privacy Officer

About the role

Privacy is central to Askable’s operations. Based in Brisbane, the Privacy Officer will lead the company’s global privacy programme, ensuring compliance with ISO 27701, ISO 27001, SOC 2 and relevant data‑protection laws across Australia, the UK and the US.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA), sub‑processor register and Vanta privacy controls for all three entities.
• Run end‑to‑end Privacy Impact Assessments ahead of new features and processing activities.
• Handle data‑subject requests (access, erasure, correction, portability) within statutory timeframes.
• Co‑manage relationships with external DPO consultants in the UK and US.
• Deliver and update the annual privacy training programme, including content creation.
• Track privacy law developments in Australia, the UK and US and brief internal teams.
• Support ISO 27701 maintenance, audit readiness and non‑conformity tracking.
• Review incoming DPA documentation and flag material concerns to Legal.

Required profile

• Approximately three years of experience in privacy, data protection or a compliance role with substantial privacy responsibilities.
• Hands‑on experience delivering Privacy Impact Assessments or Data Protection Impact Assessments.
• Solid knowledge of at least one privacy regime (Australian Privacy Act/APPs, UK GDPR or CCPA/CPRA) and ability to quickly learn others.
• Experience maintaining a Record of Processing Activities and handling data‑subject requests.
• Clear written communication skills, able to translate legal language into plain English.

Required skills

• Experience with privacy‑management platforms such as Vanta or OneTrust.
• Familiarity with ISO 27701 or supporting a Privacy Information Management System (PIMS).
