Principal Software Architect

About the role

Cotality is seeking a Principal Software Architect to lead data architecture and platform design across its global engineering teams. The role focuses on building scalable, future‑ready solutions that align with the company’s data strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Define and govern enterprise data architecture, overseeing data platforms, pipelines, and services worldwide.
• Partner with Data Engineering to design, implement, and evolve cloud‑native, distributed, and event‑driven solutions.
• Provide architectural leadership across multiple platforms, balancing short‑term delivery with long‑term sustainability.
• Collaborate with engineering, product managers, and business stakeholders in property, lending, and data services to align platform solutions with business goals.
• Establish and enforce best practices in data governance, security, and compliance.
• Mentor engineers and architects, driving capability uplift and modern data architecture adoption.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of software development experience, including 3–4 years in data architecture or principal engineering roles.
• Proven ability to operate in ambiguous environments, make independent technical decisions, and influence outcomes without direct authority.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
