About the role
We are seeking an experienced Principal Project Officer to lead capital projects, asset management and reporting within the Precincts and Venues team of Queensland’s Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games. The role supports the delivery of sport, recreation and physical activity venues across the state.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, implementation and evaluation of person‑centred service projects, including co‑design initiatives.
- Apply recognised project‑management methodology to deliver projects on time, within scope, budget and quality standards while managing risks and issues.
- Develop and execute project plans for low‑ to medium‑complexity initiatives, ensuring performance criteria are met.
- Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary internal and external stakeholders to identify solutions, resolve risks and drive project outcomes.
- Establish and maintain effective governance mechanisms and collaborative relationships to leverage resources and expertise.
- Conduct systematic research, analyse complex data and provide evidence‑based strategic advice to senior managers.
- Prepare high‑quality documentation, reports, briefing notes, presentations and other project artefacts.
- Promote a safe, healthy, diverse, respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
Required profile
- Proven experience in capital projects, asset management and reporting within a government or large‑scale organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Strong analytical skills with experience delivering evidence‑based strategic advice.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
- Willingness to travel to city, regional and remote locations, including overnight stays.
