About the role
The Principal Procurement Officer provides strategic and tactical analysis, procurement planning and category management for the Department. This senior position supports internal stakeholders and a network of procurement officers across Queensland.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver strategic and tactical analysis, procurement planning, category management and strategy development for departmental business groups.
- Lead tender management from planning through contract award, administration and ongoing contract management.
- Prepare procurement correspondence, give advice to stakeholders and exercise procurement authorisation.
- Initiate and project‑manage reviews of procurement systems and processes, recommending improvements.
- Contribute professional input to the development of departmental procurement policies, systems and procedures.
- Enhance the capability and profile of procurement within the department and mentor purchasing staff.
Required profile
- Knowledge and experience applying procurement policies, procedures or frameworks, preferably in a government or public‑sector environment.
- Level 3 Procurement Certification (Diploma in Government – Procurement and Contracting) or equivalent.
