Principal Mining Engineer (Open Pit)

About the role

AMC Consultants, now part of AFRY, is looking for a Principal Mining Engineer to join its Open Pit team in the Perth office. The role focuses on delivering high-quality technical solutions for clients, with strong open pit mine planning skills and practical experience, including technical mine planning and the preparation of technical reports.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical mine planning, including risk and quality management, and prepare reports and presentations
• Work with other professionals to develop practical solutions that add value to client projects
• Maintain and build client relationships as part of project delivery and business development
• Support technical studies such as scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility, life of mine planning, ore reserve estimation, due diligence, cost estimation and reporting to JORC, NI 43-101 and similar codes
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and across regional offices
• Support business development initiatives and uphold company values and standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline
• At least 15 years of industry experience, including recognised expertise in at least one primary area
• Valid driver's licence, passport and ability to travel internationally; right to work in the country of employment
• Fluent English, spoken and written; secondary languages viewed favourably

Required skills

• Mine planning, scheduling and reserve estimation
• Project management experience
• Proficiency in relevant mining software and general computer software
• Report writing and strong written and verbal communication
• Inclination for business development
