Principal Mechanical Engineer - Building Services

About the role

A large national engineering consultancy, founded in 2003 and employing over 300 people across the Asia Pacific, is looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its Projects team. The company supplies engineering, surveying and geotechnical services to the building and land development industries, and the role is based in the Sydney CBD office.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document mechanical services for a wide range of projects, including office, retail, residential, public and education buildings
• Liaise with clients, drafters, builders, architects and other authorities
• Manage staff, handle contractual documentation including specifications, and liaise with project partners

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)
• Registered Building Practitioner in Victoria (Mechanical)
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering
• 5+ years of experience in Australia in building services consulting
• Desired: project management, contract administration and construction supervision experience

Required skills

• Design of mechanical services systems, including air conditioning, heating and ventilation
• Other building services design (electrical, hydraulic, fire protection, environmentally sustainable design)
• Knowledge of Australian Standards and Building Codes
• Contractual documentation and specifications
• Staff management and excellent verbal communication
