Principal Mechanical Designer

About the role

Egis Group is seeking a Principal Mechanical Designer to join its Brisbane design team, delivering detailed mechanical designs for water management infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead civil and mechanical pipeline design, including above‑ground steel works, pump stations, and mechanical plant for water supply, sewerage and related infrastructure.
• Produce construction documentation such as mechanical layouts, general arrangement drawings, material take‑offs, P&IDs and isometric views.
• Provide high‑level technical support, ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and review design and drafting documentation.
• Coach junior team members, contribute to technical innovation, and support client management and business development activities.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design for multi‑disciplinary infrastructure projects within a consultancy environment.
• Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or comparable senior design experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, project budgets, timelines and relevant legislation and technical standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to engage in business development.
