Principal Fire Protection Engineer

About the role

The Perth Building Engineering team is expanding and seeks a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to lead technical and project delivery across major building and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead fire protection design from concept through construction support and commissioning for diverse sectors including defence, education, health, commercial and aviation.
• Provide high‑level technical input on wet and dry fire protection systems such as hydrants, hose reels, sprinklers, alternative and gas suppression, detection, and EWIS/evacuation systems.
• Ensure design compliance with the NCC, Australian Standards and authority requirements.
• Act as primary client interface, support business development and project acquisition.
• Mentor engineers, coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural and specialist teams, and contribute to national discipline strategy.

Required profile

• 10+ years of fire protection/services engineering experience in consultancy or similar environment.
• Proven leadership on medium to large multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Relevant engineering degree with professional accreditation (NER, RPEQ or FPAS) or eligibility.
• Australian citizenship preferred.

Required skills

• Fire hydrant, hose reel, sprinkler, alternative suppression, gas suppression, fire detection, alarm and EWIS systems.
• Design tools: Revit, AutoCAD, Hyena, Revizto.
