Principal Ecologist – Leadership Opportunity

About the role

Egis Group is seeking a Principal Ecologist to join its Brisbane team, supporting the growth of the Ecology Discipline in Queensland. The role offers a pathway to a Discipline Lead position for candidates ready to take on leadership responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning and implementation of ecological investigations and impact assessments.
• Review and approve technical reports, including investigation reports, constraints assessments, ecological management plans, offset strategies and impact assessments.
• Provide specialist input on complex ecological issues, risks and constraints.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, regulators, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities and supporting proposals and tenders.
• For Discipline Lead candidates: manage team performance, develop business plans, monitor KPIs and ensure consistent standards across the discipline.

Required profile

• 8+ years of relevant ecological experience, primarily in Queensland.
• Experience delivering ecological field and monitoring programs and reviewing technical reports.
• Class C open licence (required) and willingness to travel, including remote field work.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Geographic Information Systems (GIS) proficiency.
• Data management system experience.
