Principal Drainage Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Principal Drainage Engineer to lead technical delivery of complex drainage and stormwater projects across major infrastructure sectors in Perth. You will shape design approaches, solve hydraulic challenges and ensure high‑quality, compliant outcomes for clients.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver drainage designs, stormwater management plans and hydraulic assessments for major infrastructure projects using 12D and related tools.
• Provide expert input on hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, review and approve engineering designs, models and documentation.
• Mentor engineers, support project teams with technical guidance and quality assurance.
• Engage with clients, regulators and stakeholders to provide trusted advice and contribute to work‑winning activities.

Required profile

• Approximately 10+ years of relevant industry experience in stormwater and drainage hydraulics.
• Proven technical leadership, design review and mentoring experience within a consulting or multidisciplinary engineering environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with commercial awareness.

Required skills

• 12D software for hydraulic modelling.
• Drains, TUFLOW, HEC‑RAS, MUSIC, RORB or similar hydraulic modelling tools.
• Experience with Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR 2019) and relevant authority drainage standards.
