Principal Civil Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead multidisciplinary infrastructure projects across aviation, transport and defence in NSW. You will have autonomy to manage projects end‑to‑end, build client relationships and contribute to business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of civil infrastructure including roads, pavements, earthworks, stormwater, water & wastewater, and utility coordination.
• Manage project scope, budget, programme, risk and design quality while ensuring compliance with Australian standards and client requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships across aviation, defence, government and private sectors.
• Support business development activities such as opportunity identification, proposal preparation and fee estimation.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, high‑performing team environment.

Required profile

• 10+ years post‑graduate experience in civil and site infrastructure design.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong client‑facing and interpersonal skills at senior level.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent accreditation preferred.
