About the role

Catholic Education Cairns is recruiting a teacher for Good Counsel Catholic Primary School in Innisfail, Queensland. The school was founded in 1903, sits in the centre of the township at 96 Rankin Street, and currently serves a cohort of 350 students across two streams from Prep to Year 6. The position is advertised as full-time, with a fixed-term contract from 16 January 2027 to 14 January 2028 covering parental leave, at 12 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Plan with a co-teacher and within a year-group team
• Plan, prepare and deliver effective learning and teaching programs
• Contribute to school initiatives and school planning
• Help establish and maintain a supportive school environment
• Work under the direction of the school Principal or delegate

Required profile

• Strong commitment to the values, vision and ethos of Catholic Education
• Professional qualifications in education
• Demonstrated ability in learning and teaching, and interpersonal skills
• High level of written and verbal communication
• Commitment to the wellbeing of the school community
• Registered or eligible to register with the Queensland College of Teachers
• Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs and require learning support
• Current driver's licence and capacity to promote child safety

What we offer

• Graduate salary of $86,600 to lead teacher of $147,048 FTE gross per annum plus 12.75% superannuation
