Platform Engineer – Cloud & Kubernetes

About the role

The role sits within a cloud engineering team that owns the foundational platforms used by multiple product teams in a global financial services organisation. You will design, build and automate end‑to‑end cloud environments, focusing on reliability, security and AI‑assisted engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain automation for GCP and Kubernetes (GKE) environments from provisioning to decommissioning.
• Create and harden secure CI/CD pipelines for containerised services using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD or Bitbucket.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and logging from the ground up and lead incident response.
• Develop tooling and scripts (Python, Bash, Go) to reduce manual toil and support data migrations.
• Integrate core platform components such as API gateways, event‑driven architectures and messaging queues.

Required profile

• Hands‑on production experience with Kubernetes (GKE preferred, EKS valued).
• Strong background managing and scaling cloud infrastructure on GCP or AWS.
• Proven ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and to respond to incidents.
• Comfortable working in an AI‑assisted engineering environment with a focus on quality and security.
