Plant Operator Team Member – Road and Drainage Works

About the role

Bega Valley Shire Council is hiring Plant Operator Team Members to operate civil engineering plant equipment for constructing and maintaining council assets. The work covers pavement construction and maintenance, and the position is a permanent full-time role of 38 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Operate plant equipment such as graders, loaders, excavators and rollers for pavement construction and maintenance projects.
• Assist in reviewing plans, determining the scope of works and making recommendations where appropriate.
• Perform pavement and drainage activities.
• Carry out basic routine and corrective maintenance on hand tools, power tools and minor plant equipment in line with project specifications and safety requirements.

Required profile

• NNSW RMS Heavy Rigid (HR) licence and a SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Applicants without these qualifications may still be considered if they can show the relevant experience, knowledge and skills.
• Right to work in Australia.
• Suitable immunisation in line with the Australian Immunisation Handbook, public health orders and council procedure.

Required skills

• Recent plant operator experience on pavement construction or similar work.
• Experience in road and drainage works such as in-situ stabilisation, gravel re-sheeting, pavement upgrades, site levelling, pipe laying, culvert construction and drainage installation.
• Experience with hand and power tools such as chainsaws, concrete cutting saws, concrete vibrators and pumps.
• Ability to read paper and electronic plans and schedules and apply them to the work.

• Remuneration starting at $73,143.62 per year, with a base salary of $1,255.90 per week and 12% superannuation.
