Pharmacist-in-Charge – Compounding Pharmacy

About the role

We are seeking a Pharmacist‑in‑Charge to lead the clinical pharmacy practice at a dedicated compounding‑only pharmacy in Ballina, NSW. This permanent, full‑time position provides professional oversight of all compounded medications while the laboratory technicians handle the hands‑on compounding work.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality‑control checks and release compounded preparations.
• Review and verify prescriptions from GPs, NPs, optometrists, veterinarians and dentists.
• Consult with prescribers to ensure appropriate therapy and dosing.
• Respond to patient enquiries regarding their compounded medicines.
• Provide clinical guidance to the laboratory team and support a small on‑site staff.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a pharmacist in good standing.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high‑quality pharmacy practice.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while supporting a small team.
• Experience in community or clinical pharmacy; compounding experience is an advantage but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Compounding (knowledge of sterile and non‑sterile preparation).
• Prescription review and verification.
• Quality‑control checking of compounded products.
