Personal Accident Claims Assessor

About the role

A specialist insurance team in Sydney is recruiting a Personal Accident Claims Assessor to report to the Team Leader, Personal Accident. The assessor manages a portfolio of claims from initial notification through to finalisation, ensuring timely, accurate and well-reasoned decisions. The position is based in Sydney, working 37.5 hours per week, with an immediate start available.

Key responsibilities

• Manage personal accident claims from lodgement through to resolution.
• Assess policy coverage, liability, medical evidence and financial information.
• Investigate claims and develop appropriate claim strategies.
• Liaise with brokers, customers, medical practitioners and external service providers.
• Make claims decisions within delegated authority and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate claims documentation and keep claims progress within service standards.
• Identify risks, resolve issues and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in claims assessment, ideally within injury-related insurance.
• Ideally experience in personal accident, workers compensation, CTP or accident and sickness claims; broader claims assessment experience or an allied health background is also considered.
• Ability to interpret medical information, policy coverage and supporting documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to manage competing priorities and a customer-focused approach with sound judgement.
• Unrestricted Australian working rights.

What we offer

• Salary of $90,000 to $100,000 base plus superannuation, with flexibility depending on experience.
