Permit Control Officer (PCO) – LV/HV & Authorised Isolator

About the role

EnerMech is seeking experienced Permit Control Officers (PCO) – LV/HV and Authorised Isolators to join a dedicated electrical access team on a major Sydney Metro rail infrastructure project. The role involves planning, coordinating and executing complex LV and HV isolations and switching activities within a strict Permit to Work system.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and control the Permit to Work (PTW) system for LV and HV electrical works.
• Plan, develop and execute switching programs and isolation plans for LV & HV systems.
• Perform Authorised Isolator duties – isolation, locking, tagging and proving de‑energisation.
• Undertake HV switching on AC rail power distribution (e.g., 11kV/33kV) and test for dead before issuing permits.
• Coordinate isolations across multiple concurrent work sites and maintain accurate permit and switching logs.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a PCO, HV/LV isolator or HV switching in rail or heavy‑industry environments.
• Strong understanding of Permit to Work systems and high‑risk work controls.
• Ability to work across multiple work fronts in a high‑compliance setting.
• Excellent communication with control authorities and site teams.
• Commitment to safety, compliance and procedural discipline.

Required skills

• LV/HV isolation planning and execution.
• HV switching competency (rail or industrial equivalent).
• Permit to Work administration.
• Electrical testing for dead and proving isolation.
• Authorised Isolator certification.
