Permit Control Officer – High Voltage Rail (RIW)

About the role

EnerMech is seeking experienced Permit Control Officers to join its electrical access team on a major Sydney Metro rail project. The role involves planning, coordinating and executing complex low‑voltage (LV) and high‑voltage (HV) isolations and switching activities within a structured Permit to Work system.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and control the Permit to Work system for LV and HV electrical works across multiple rail sites.
• Develop, plan and execute switching programs and isolation plans, including HV switching on 11kV/33kV AC rail power distribution networks.
• Perform authorised isolator duties – isolation, locking, tagging and proving de‑energisation.
• Issue, suspend and cancel permits in line with Sydney Metro and rail authority procedures and maintain accurate switching logs.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Permit Control Officer or in HV/LV isolation and switching within rail or heavy‑industry environments.
• Current NSW Electrical Licence and Electrical Trade Qualification.
• RIW Card (Rail Industry Worker) and current White Card.
• Full Australian working rights and residence within the Sydney Metro area.

Required skills

• HV switching competency (rail or equivalent industry).
• LV and HV isolation planning and execution.
• Permit to Work system administration.
• Authorised Isolator certification and testing for dead/proving isolation.
