Permit Control Officer – High Voltage

About the role

EnerMech is seeking experienced Permit Control Officers (PCO) for LV and HV to join a dedicated electrical access team on a major Sydney Metro rail infrastructure project. The role involves planning, coordinating and executing complex electrical isolations and HV switching activities within a strict Permit to Work system.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and control the Permit to Work system for LV and HV electrical works.
• Plan, develop and execute switching programs and isolation plans for 11kV/33kV rail power distribution.
• Perform authorised isolator duties including isolation, locking, tagging and proving de‑energisation.
• Issue, suspend and cancel permits in line with Sydney Metro and rail authority procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of permits, switching logs and isolation documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a PCO, HV/LV isolator or HV switcher in rail or heavy‑industry environments.
• Strong understanding of high‑risk work controls and Permit to Work systems.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with control officers, stakeholders and site teams.
• Commitment to safety, compliance and procedural discipline.

Required skills

• HV switching competency (rail or industry equivalent).
• Authorised Isolator certification and experience.
• Ability to develop and execute switching programs and isolation plans.
• Testing for dead and proving isolation procedures.
