People & Culture Graduate

About the role

SCT Logistics, Australia's largest privately owned rail and freight logistics company, is looking for a People & Culture Graduate in Altona, Victoria. The graduate will gain hands-on experience across recruitment, onboarding, HR systems and employee compliance while working alongside an experienced and supportive People & Culture team.

Key responsibilities

• Recruitment and onboarding: post job advertisements, manage applications, conduct reference checks, prepare employment contracts and onboarding paperwork, and support new starters.
• Medicals and compliance: coordinate pre-employment medicals, track licences and certifications, follow up candidates and providers, and maintain confidential employee records.
• HRIS administration: create and maintain employee records, process new starters, changes and terminations, provide first-level support for HRIS queries, assist with reporting and workforce data, and help improve processes and systems.
• General P&C support: respond to employee and manager enquiries, assist with people initiatives and engagement activities, and support the wider team with projects and administration.

Required profile

• Recently completed (or close to completing) a degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Management or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail, a customer service mindset and comfort learning new systems and technology.
• Able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines, with a positive attitude and initiative.

Required skills

• Bonus points: previous administration, recruitment, customer service or HR experience.
• Bonus points: exposure to HR systems such as ELMO or similar.
• Bonus points: strong Microsoft Office skills.
