Penetration Tester (Remote)

About the role

A trusted Australian cyber security company, which helps organisations identify risks, strengthen security and respond to cyber incidents, is looking for a Penetration Tester. The position is remote and is advertised by Robert Half. It is a contract or temporary role based in Melbourne CBD, Victoria, with a yearly pay of 80,000 to 81,000 AUD.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out penetration tests across web applications, APIs, internal and external infrastructure, cloud environments, AI/LLM systems and wireless networks.
• Write detailed engagement reports covering vulnerabilities, impact, technical details, risk ratings, remediation complexity and recommendations.

Required profile

• At least two years conducting penetration tests in a consulting or professional services environment, or equivalent capability.
• OSCP certification or an equivalent hands-on offensive security certification.
• Ability to work across at least three service streams such as application testing, infrastructure testing, social engineering, cloud security, offensive security operations and configuration reviews.
• Tertiary qualification in information security or a related IT field, or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to undergo police checks.

Required skills

• Working proficiency with at least one scripting language.
• Knowledge of networking, Windows and Linux and common enterprise security controls.
• Strong written communication, able to write client-ready reports.
• Desirable: advanced offensive security certifications, CREST Registered Tester, AI and LLM security testing, tool development, CVEs, bug bounty or CTF results.
