Peer Worker and Mental Health Worker

About the role

Flourish Australia is recruiting Peer Workers and Mental Health Workers for its new Buduwa Step Up Step Down service within the Sydney Accommodation Team, based in Burwood. The work supports people accessing services who have a lived experience of mental health challenges to maintain their wellness and reach their goals. Peer Worker roles are for people willing to draw on their personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery; Mental Health Workers do not need to use lived experience. Positions are available full-time (76 hours per fortnight), part-time (negotiable hours) and casual.

Key responsibilities

• Listen to and create opportunities and activities that meet the interests and goals of people.
• Encourage shared learning and support skill development through self-directed learning, information and education.
• Provide individual, strengths-based support aligned to each person's recovery journey goals.
• Take a hands-on approach and be involved in direct service delivery.

Required profile

• A Certificate IV or above in a relevant field, or at least 2 years of full-time experience in human services.
• Strong commitment to recovery-based practice.
• Lived experience of a mental health issue and recovery (Peer Worker only).
• Alignment with Flourish Australia's values.
• Current Australian driver's licence; private vehicle use may be required and a travelling transport allowance applies.

Required skills

• Effective use of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of data information management systems.

• Enterprise agreement Level 3 pay of $40.49-$43.42 per hour plus super and tax-free salary packaging.
