P&C Generalist

About the role

The People & Capabilities (P&C) Generalist will join MacDonnell Regional Council in Alice Springs, providing essential HR support to a culturally diverse team. This permanent, full‑time position focuses on delivering recruitment services, maintaining employee records, and contributing to policy development while making a tangible impact on the local community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative assistance to the P&C department to ensure smooth delivery of HR functions.
• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment processes, including job advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, and onboarding.
• Enter and maintain data in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and keep electronic personnel records up to date.
• Conduct regular file audits and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Assist in reviewing and developing departmental policies, procedures, and operational models.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR/generalist professional, preferably in a public‑sector environment.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities with high attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and adapt to changing priorities.
• Commitment to community service and a passion for supporting Indigenous workforce development.
• Valid Australian working rights (citizenship, permanent residency, or appropriate visa).
