Payroll Officer

About the role

St Jude's Health Care Group, a provider of aged care, allied health and disability services, is hiring a Payroll Officer for its central office in West Perth. The role manages the fortnightly payroll for an organisation of 2,000+ employees, communicates with the payroll team, trains operational stakeholders on the payroll process and system, answers staff and stakeholder queries and interprets several awards and enterprise bargaining agreements. It works closely with the Senior Payroll Officer on process improvements and keeps records and statutory compliance standards high.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret awards such as SCHADS, the Aged Care Award and the Nurses Award
• Manage superannuation, reconciliations and associated reporting
• Process the fortnightly payroll for a 2,000+ person organisation
• Liaise with management and stakeholders across the business on payroll matters
• Work with the Senior Payroll Officer to identify and recommend process improvements
• Maintain high-standard record keeping and meet statutory and compliance requirements

Required profile

• Significant payroll experience, ideally in a large, complex organisation, preferably in healthcare
• Analytical thinker with attention to detail, able to multitask and manage time effectively
• Confident, inquisitive and able to act as a leader and decision-maker
• Familiarity with the pressures of large service delivery organisations

Required skills

• Proficiency with technology, including MYOB and Microsoft applications
• Desirable: experience interpreting healthcare awards and implementing new payroll systems
