Pastoral Care Volunteer - Aged Care Home, Waratah

About the role

HammondCare is looking for pastoral care volunteers to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly people living in its residential aged care home in Waratah. Volunteers are Christians actively involved with a local Christian church and offer comfort, presence and hope. They supplement and complement the work of the Residential Pastoral Care Coordinator, working under their direction.

Key responsibilities

• Support people to meet their spiritual needs
• Nurture spiritual development
• Visit residents regularly, ideally between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday, with visits that can be weekly or fortnightly depending on availability

Required profile

• Christian faith and active involvement with a local Christian church
• High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills
• Pastoral Care training such as Chaplaincy or Clinical Pastoral Education, or willingness to attend HammondCare pastoral care training
• Completion of the Spiritual Care Series, in preparation for becoming a pastoral care volunteer
• Age 18 or older; NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
