Pastoral Care Practitioner - St Georges

About the role

Benetas is recruiting a part-time Pastoral Care Practitioner for its aged care home St Georges in Altona Meadows, which houses 124 residents. The service provides whole-of-life, non-denominational and multi-faith pastoral care, supporting residents and their families with issues such as spirituality and meaning, grief and loss, adjusting to change, palliative care and end of life. The role also manages Allied Health referrals and supports parish partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and respond to Allied Health referrals for pastoral care provision, assessing and responding pastorally
• Provide 1:1 and group-based inclusive, non-denominational and multi-faith pastoral care, including memorial services, spiritual reminiscence and spiritual and emotional support
• Implement individualised, culturally sensitive care for all residents and clients
• Support Benetas in the community, including fostering parish partnerships
• Communicate and promote the Pastoral Care Service within the community and within Benetas
• Work with stakeholders including Community Engagement Coordinators (Lifestyle)
• Respond to requests from residents, families, staff and volunteers for chaplaincy, sacramental and church-based services and rituals
• Maintain a caseload of referrals covering at least 20% of the allocated resident cohort

Required profile

• Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) of at least 1 unit and eligibility for membership of Spiritual Care Australia
• Prior experience as a professional Pastoral Care Practitioner in an Allied Health role or equivalent
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance ID or ability to obtain it
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated resilience and compassion with complex spiritual care needs such as grief and loss

• Effective documentation management, including spiritual assessments and progress notes
