Pharmacy Assistant - Senior (Education)

About the role

A vacancy has opened for a Pharmacy Assistant - Senior (Education) within Gold Coast Health, a 14,000-strong team focused on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales. The role is a permanent part-time position (45.6 hours per fortnight) within the Pharmacy Service, which provides medication management across inpatient units, outpatient clinics and other facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support, mentoring, education, training and supervision to Pharmacy Assistants
• Educate patients on the use of a defined range of medicines, medication aids and devices
• Deliver a defined range of pharmacy services for patients under the delegation and guidance of a pharmacist
• Assist pharmacists in preparing and recording Monitored Medicine orders and undertake audits of reports and records

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support (HLT47115) or equivalent qualification
• Evidence of vaccination against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, pertussis and hepatitis B, or ability to be vaccinated and remain vaccinated
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify whether the tuberculosis vaccine may be required
• Declaration of a serious discipline history must be disclosed; criminal history screening is required for new employees (cost covered by GCH)
