Part-Time Secondary Learning Support Assistant

About the role

Waverley Christian College, a Christian co-educational school from Kinder to Year 12 with campuses in Wantirna South and Narre Warren South, is seeking several part-time Secondary Learning Support Assistants for its Narre Warren South campus. The roles generally run 3-5 days per week (8:45am-3:30pm during term time), with ongoing and fixed-term positions available; one two-day parental leave position is also open. Candidates may work in classroom support, small-group intervention programs and the SPARC special education program, or a mix of these.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a bridge between students and their teacher and help build connections between students and their peers.
• Ensure each student receives the support needed to take an active part in school and class.
• Support students with disabilities, including those with more significant learning and support needs in the SPARC program.

Required profile

• Certificate III or Certificate IV in Education Support, or a qualification in Teaching/Education, or extensive relevant experience.
• Passion for supporting students with disabilities.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, students and other support staff.
• Strong spoken and written English, able to support students in English and Humanities subjects.
• Commitment to the values and ethos of Christian education and willingness to take part in all college programs.
• Working with Children's Check and a police check less than three months old are mandatory.
