Part-Time Radiation Oncology Nurse

About the role

A Registered Nurse is sought to join the team at 5D Clinics in Melbourne in a part-time capacity, reporting to the Site Manager. The nurse provides care to patients undergoing radiotherapy at a specialist radiation oncology treatment centre, with a focus on patient-centred cancer care. The position is weekday-only, Monday to Friday, so nights and weekends are kept free.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, review and implement patient care plans during radiotherapy treatment
• Provide patient-centred radiation oncology care to patients and their families, with an empathetic approach
• Monitor and treat patients for illness, lymphoedema or other side effects
• Maintain standards by following best practice protocols and clinical guidelines
• Apply contemporary nursing knowledge and skill in oncology nursing practice in line with legislation and professional standards
• Support the Site Manager in day-to-day operations
• Support the implementation of new systems, therapies and clinical trials

Required profile

• Current AHPRA nursing registration
• Genuine interest in cancer care nursing and professional development in this field
• Experience documenting patient experiences and relaying patient feedback to doctors and nurse managers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining good working relationships
• Commitment to learning and continual professional development

Required skills

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with patients and colleagues
• Ability to learn and use multiple clinical administration systems
