Pharmacy Assistant / Pharmacy Technician

About the role

Slade Pharmacy, part of Icon Oncology Group, is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant / Pharmacy Technician for its Victoria Parade location within Epworth Freemasons Hospital in East Melbourne. It is a permanent full-time position in a small, close-knit team working closely with the Pharmacist-in-Charge, covering hospital, retail and patient-facing pharmacy across maternity, IVF and day procedure units. The role suits someone who enjoys a fast-paced, varied environment and wants to progress into a technician role.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, dispense and supply medications for hospital inpatients and outpatients under pharmacist supervision
• Support daily documentation of dispensing and patient visits
• Manage ward stock, reconcile prescriptions and discharge medication profiles
• Prioritise walk-in customers and provide support to patients, carers and hospital staff
• Help patients adhere to treatment with pharmacy staff, nurses and community health workers
• Assist with S2/S3 sales, retail ordering and reconciliation
• Maintain the retail space, including merchandising, stock ordering, expiry checks, invoicing and supplier liaison
• Support IVF and maternity patients with product information such as IVF kits, breast pumps and maternity garments
• Process PBS claims and help prepare discharge medication profiles
• Handle patient account enquiries and keep the dispensing area clean and organised

Required profile

• Previous experience in an Australian community or hospital pharmacy (essential)
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work across many tasks
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to manage time, work independently and as part of a team, and pay attention to detail

Required skills

• Familiarity with dispensing medication and FRED Dispense (preferred)
• Understanding of PBS and S2/S3 medications (preferred)
