Oil Condition Mentor - Fluid Analysis

About the role

SGS Australia is looking for a mentor for its oil conditionmentoring role in fluid analysis, based in Perth Airport. This hands-on diagnostic position applies knowledge of mining, mechanical and rotating equipment to interpret fluid analysis results and turn them into practical recommendations for customers. You will work closely with customers, diagnostics specialists and the laboratory team to maintain service quality and meet critical turnaround times.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse laboratory results for oil, grease, coolant and fuel samples and prepare accurate technical reports for customers.
• Deliver practical recommendations based on equipment design specifications and operational parameters.
• Identify wear trends, contamination sources and lubricant degradation issues.
• Manage customer liaison, confirm analysis requirements, set up sampling schedules and meet agreed deadlines.
• Prioritise laboratory workflow to support turnaround times and service level agreements.
• Collaborate with diagnostics and laboratory teams to maintain service quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with SGS safety, environmental and quality policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a mechanical-related discipline.
• Practical experience with mining, fixed plant or rotating equipment.
• Experience in oil condition monitoring, equipment maintenance or reliability analysis.
• Proactive, organised and professional, able to build trust and maintain confidentiality.

Required skills

• Confident computer literacy and ability to work with technical data and reporting systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including discussing technical and business matters with customers.
