Nurse Clinical Specialist – Alcohol and Other Drugs

About the role

The Department of Health is seeking a Nurse Clinical Specialist to deliver expert clinical care for clients with alcohol and other drug concerns in Central Australia. This position provides both direct and indirect services, supporting complex presentations while mentoring less‑experienced nursing and midwifery staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide collaborative, coordinated clinical care for clients with complex alcohol and other drug needs.
• Deliver both direct patient interventions and indirect support activities.
• Work alongside and guide junior nursing and midwifery personnel within the specialty area.
• Ensure care is appropriate, proficient, and aligns with departmental standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with qualification recognised in Australia.
• Experience at Nurse Level 4 or equivalent senior nursing level.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex client presentations in substance‑use settings.
• Capacity to mentor and support less‑experienced staff.
