Night Manager - Hotel Operations

About the role

The Night Manager leads hotel operations overnight, ensuring the safety, security and satisfaction of guests while supporting the Front Office team and keeping the hotel running smoothly after hours. The role spreads hospitality by creating a welcoming, safe and seamless experience for every guest and providing leadership and support to the team.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of all hotel operations during the night shift, ensuring a safe, efficient and seamless guest experience.
• Resolve guest concerns promptly, personalise service and maintain high hospitality standards throughout the night.
• Conduct shift handovers and team briefings, monitor arrivals and departures, keep accurate shift records and communicate issues needing follow-up.
• Provide leadership and guidance to overnight team members (Front Office, Porters, Security, Housekeeping and others), including training and development.
• Oversee security procedures, carry out regular property checks, manage incident reporting and coordinate emergency responses.
• Complete the night audit: finish end-of-day financial and operational processes, balance systems and reconcile guest accounts.
• Work with Housekeeping, Engineering, Food & Beverage and other teams to resolve operational challenges.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Front Office leadership role in a hotel, preferably as Night Manager, Assistant Night Manager or Duty Manager.
• Ability to lead and support teams across multiple operational departments overnight.
• Strong guest service and problem-solving skills, with a track record of handling guest concerns and complaints.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with guests, team members, department leaders and emergency services.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure and keep high service standards overnight.

Required skills

• Experience completing night audit procedures, reconciliations and end-of-day financial reporting.
• Sound knowledge of hotel security, emergency response procedures and Australian workplace health and safety requirements.
• Experience using hotel Property Management Systems and keeping accurate guest and operational records.
