NDIS Mental Health Officer - Lismore

About the role

Flourish Australia is recruiting an NDIS Mental Health Officer for the Northern NSW Local Health District, based in Lismore with travel across the district. The role is part of a statewide program where officers work closely with mental health services in local health districts and specialty health networks to improve access to and the experience of the NDIS for people with psychosocial disability. It is a closed-term full-time position until 30 June 2027 (extension possible), Monday to Friday, at $107,800 per year plus superannuation and salary packaging.

Key responsibilities

• Work with LHD or SHN mental health services to identify people eligible for the NDIS and help them obtain the right support
• Work across the NDIS journey, including access, planning, plan implementation and plan utilisation
• Build the capacity of mental health service staff around the NDIS
• Work with the NDIA, Local Area Coordinators, NDIS Support Coordinators, NDIS Psychosocial Recovery Coaches and other providers to connect people to the NDIS

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the NDIS and its eligibility criteria for psychosocial disability
• Qualifications in human services or a relevant field and/or relevant experience in psychosocial disability
• Demonstrated experience supporting people with psychosocial disability to access and use the NDIS
• Ability to build staff capacity, including through mentoring, and to liaise with service providers
• Ability to work across multiple sites and environments, independently and under tight deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and IT literacy
• Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence (P2 acceptable) and Vaccination Category A
• Desirable: lived experience of a mental health issue; experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse consumers
