National Lead – Independent Certification & Assurance

About the role

AECOM is seeking a senior leader to head Independent Certification & Assurance across Australia, based in Brisbane. The role drives sector strategy, client engagement and delivery excellence for major civil infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support execution of sector‑specific strategies and drive profitable growth through client engagement and market differentiation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry partners and stakeholders.
• Oversee recruitment, development and succession planning for the team, fostering an inclusive environment.
• Ensure delivery excellence across projects by maintaining high standards of quality, safety and client satisfaction.
• Implement digital and AI initiatives and uphold project governance and delegation of authority requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management or related field (Master’s preferred) with at least 15 years of experience in major civil infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in independent certification, verification or assurance roles and operating under government or principal‑led contract models.
• Strong leadership and team development skills, with a focus on collaboration and inclusion.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary technical teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
