National Construction Manager – Substations

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a National Construction Manager to lead high‑voltage substation projects across Australia. The role oversees the full project lifecycle from mobilisation to commissioning, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and profitability targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Provide construction methodology input and buildability advice during the tender phase for high‑voltage and substation projects.
• Collaborate with pre‑contracts and estimating teams to develop accurate construction programmes, resource plans and risk assessments.
• Participate in site visits and constructability reviews to inform bid strategies.
• Support handover from pre‑contracts to delivery teams, ensuring continuity of knowledge and planning.
• Develop and execute detailed construction programmes aligned with engineering deliverables and procurement schedules.
• Coordinate with Superintendents and Foremen to manage subcontractor performance and site logistics.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations and utility provider standards (e.g., AusNet, Powerlink, Transgrid).
• Maintain and monitor the master construction schedule, managing critical path activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing high‑voltage substation construction projects at a national level.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations and utility standards in Australia.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage subcontractors.
• Excellent planning, risk‑assessment and stakeholder‑management skills.
