Museum Attendant / Front of House (Expression of Interest)

About the role

Bundanon, an art museum in the Shoalhaven region of NSW, is looking for a Museum Attendant / Front of House member for its Visitor Services team. This is a casual position starting immediately, paid at $34.96 per hour ($27.97 base plus 25% casual loading) under the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award 2020, Grade 3. The role ensures a seamless visitor experience by attending to and facilitating interactions between visitors and exhibits.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear, accurate information on current exhibitions, events and the site, and answer questions and give directions
• Deliver engaging tours for individuals and larger guided groups
• Handle cash and card transactions for admission fees, event tickets, memberships and merchandise
• Manage front desk operations and support the Visitor Services team across all Bundanon sites
• Sell merchandise in the retail shop and ask visitors for survey feedback
• Follow WHS standards, complete safety training, maintain First Aid certification, take part in safety inspections and report accidents or near misses

Required profile

• Proven ability to deliver outstanding customer service
• Excellent verbal communication skills, able to explain artworks and exhibits clearly
• Experience processing transactions such as cash, admission fees, memberships and merchandise sales
• Cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse cultures
• Desirable: education in art, museum studies, event management or a related field; knowledge of contemporary art and art history; problem-solving in challenging situations
