Motor Assessor (RACQ Insurance)

About the role

RACQ Insurance, which became a long-term strategic partner of IAG in September 2025, is hiring a Motor Assessor. The role applies technical expertise to deliver fair, timely and high-quality motor claim outcomes: assessing vehicle damage, determining repair methods and costs, and ensuring results meet regulatory requirements, industry standards and customer expectations. It sits within Motor Claims and Assessing, reporting to the Team Manager, On-Road Assessing. The position is permanent and full-time, based at Eight Mile Plains in Meanjin (Brisbane); candidates based on the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast or as far west as Toowoomba are welcome.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and quantify motor claims quickly and cost-effectively, ensuring safe and compliant repairs.
• Apply industry and manufacturer-approved repair methods to set fair claim settlements.
• Build relationships with members, repairers, service providers and internal stakeholders.
• Deliver an excellent customer experience, including supporting vulnerable customers with empathy.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with internal processes, regulations and codes of practice.
• Identify risks, escalate issues where needed and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Support cost-effective repair strategies while keeping quality and safety standards.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in motor assessing or a related trade environment.
• Trade qualifications and technical experience in panel beating, spray painting or motor mechanics are essential.
• Strong knowledge of motor repair industry practices and assessment methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer focus.
• Proven problem-solving, decision-making and negotiation skills, and strong time management.
• A valid Australian driver's licence.
