Mobile App Product Designer

About the role

Design new app features and define and manage the Design System for Auto & General’s mobile insurance app, helping create Australia’s best mobile insurance experience. You will work closely with the Product Owner and a small dedicated team to deliver end‑to‑end mobile strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design approach for the mobile app development project.
• Define, implement and maintain a Design System that supports future mobile capabilities.
• Adapt existing UI/UX standards and guidelines for native mobile solutions.
• Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders and the development team to gather requirements, ideate features and produce wireframes to high‑fidelity prototypes.
• Validate designs through usability testing and ensure they are feasible for development.

Required profile

• Minimum 3+ years experience in a UX/UI design role.
• At least 2+ years designing native mobile applications.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating innovative UX/UI work and experience with design systems.
• Understanding of front‑end and native app development principles.
• Experience working in Agile environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Figma (preferred) and other prototyping tools such as Axure or ProtoPie.
• Ability to produce wireframes and interactive prototypes of varying fidelity.
• Knowledge of design methodologies, usability standards and conducting user research.
• Experience creating and maintaining a Design System.
