Mining Engineer – Dawson Mine

About the role

The Mining Engineer will report to the Technical Services Superintendent and deliver best‑practice mining engineering services to support operations at Dawson Mine, a large open‑cut steelmaking coal operation near Moura, Queensland.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement short‑term mining strategies and mine plans, incorporating truck and excavator design.
• Leverage mine design software to produce achievable and efficient mine plans.
• Communicate mine plans and schedules to the production team to optimise processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Engage with the planning team and support daily, weekly and monthly reporting and compliance monitoring.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualified Mining Engineer with at least 2 years post‑graduate experience in an open‑cut environment.
• Experience in short‑term design, planning or scheduling within open‑cut mining.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
• Track record of driving continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Truck & excavator dig, dump and infrastructure design experience.
• Proficiency in mine planning software such as SPRY, Vulcan, Minescape, MINEX.
• Exposure to DESWIK, mRoc (Argus) and Modular Mining Provision or similar GPS guidance systems.
