Medical Practitioner / Registrar / GP / Rural Generalist

About the role

The Southern Fleurieu Health Service is seeking motivated doctors for its Emergency Department in Victor Harbor on full-time or part-time, temporary 3-year contracts. Positions are available as Medical Practitioner (MDP2), suitable for registered doctors who want to deliver hands-on acute care in a supportive, multidisciplinary team. The role combines rural emergency medicine with a coastal lifestyle.

Key responsibilities

• Manage patient care in the Emergency Department with medical, nursing and allied health staff
• Provide after-hours code blue support to the inpatient medical unit
• Take part in a 24/7 roster, continuing education and quality improvement programs
• Foster teamwork across disciplines for optimal clinical outcomes

Required profile

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
• Current general registration with AHPRA, or qualification for limited registration through the competent authority pathway
• For MDP3 Fellowship eligibility (or near completion of specialist training) in Emergency Medicine, General Practice or an equivalent specialty
• Satisfactory background screening and SA Health immunisation requirements and clearances
• Strong emergency clinician with sound judgement, confident decision-maker in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication skills
