Exercise / Fitness Instructor - Aged Care

About the role

Southern Cross Care is hiring an Exercise / Fitness Instructor (Health and Wellness Promoter) in Victor Harbor, South Australia. You will create opportunities for residents to take part in physical activity through individual and group exercise programs, helping them stay independent, healthy and active.

Key responsibilities

• Help residents maximise independence and improve and maintain their health, wellness and quality of life
• Plan and deliver high-quality health and wellness services using evidence-based tools, with a focus on person-centred care and healthy ageing through goal setting, progressive resistance training and health literacy
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to design tailored exercise programs that meet resident goals
• Take part in early intervention to spot frailty and decline early and act quickly to optimise physical function
• Deliver organisational programs across residential homes and audit them against Southern Cross Care procedures
• Keep the Health and Wellness Centre equipped and clean and safe

Required profile

• Certificate IV or higher in Fitness, Exercise Science, Personal Training, Exercise Physiology or equivalent
• Current accreditation with Physical Activity Australia, AUSActive or Exercise & Sports Science Australia
• Experience designing and delivering exercise programs for older people, including those with cognitive impairment and frailty
• Demonstrated delivery of progressive resistance training programs with older people
• Good understanding of healthy ageing and strong interpersonal, organisational and time-management skills

Required skills

• Computer and keyboard proficiency, including Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail) and in-house databases
• Ability to analyse information, advocate for residents' needs and report to management
