Job description

About the role

Rugby World Cup Australia is looking for a Media Services Manager to support the world's media covering the Men's Rugby World Cup 2027. Based in the Sydney CBD and reporting to the Senior Media Operations Manager, the role manages end-to-end media accreditation and match allocation for non-rights holding media and photographers, and acts as a trusted contact for a global client group. The position runs from January 2027 to November 2027.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end media accreditation process, including application reviews, stakeholder enquiries and communicating outcomes to applicants.
  • Oversee match allocation: assess requests, maintain match lists, liaise with assignment desks and coordinate allocation changes.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact for non-rights holding media, giving accurate, timely and consistent information.
  • Work with Accreditation, Transport and Broadcast teams to deliver seamless media services.
  • Support media-focused events, briefings, volunteer inductions and staff training.
  • Lead the Media Operations volunteer workforce, including recruitment support, interviewing, rostering, training and communications.
  • Publish operational information to media portals and contribute to post-tournament reports and knowledge transfer.

Required profile

  • At least 3 years' experience in media operations for major sporting or high-profile events.
  • Experience managing accreditation processes and systems with large volumes of participant data.
  • Strong knowledge of local, national and international news organisations and their needs at major events.
  • Experience recruiting, training and coordinating volunteer workforces.
  • Ability to travel and work outside standard hours, weekends and across time zones.
  • Desirable: knowledge of rugby and the media landscape of elite sport, and a second language.

Required skills

  • Stakeholder management, customer service and communication.
  • Advanced administrative, organisational and IT skills with attention to detail.

What we offer

  • Hybrid work: four days per week in the office (Monday to Thursday), becoming full-time in the office as the tournament approaches.
  • Weekly fresh fruit, wellbeing initiatives and Lunch & Learn sessions.
  • On-site showers, towels and hair tools.
  • Regular team events and weekly catch-ups.

Applications close 29 October 2026. Candidates submit a CV (max 3 pages) through the online application link; the selection process involves two rounds of interviews in the Sydney CBD office. Applicants must be able to obtain their own working rights in Australia.
