Mechanical Engineering Technician

About the role

You will keep our spray‑foam rigs, plant and vans in safe, reliable working order so installation crews can work without downtime. Reporting to the Director, you will plan and execute preventive maintenance across Tasmania.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and carry out preventive maintenance on plural‑component proportioners, heated hoses, spray guns, transfer pumps, air compressors and generators.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
• Calibrate and test equipment to manufacturer specifications (temperature, pressure, mix ratio).
• Manage servicing schedules for rig vans, trailers and service vehicles.
• Prepare technical drawings (SolidWorks/CAD) for rig layouts, fit‑outs and modifications.
• Install and commission new equipment and upgrades.
• Order parts, liaise with suppliers and keep maintenance records up to date.
• Train installers in correct equipment use and daily care.

Required profile

• Diploma or higher in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or related field, or at least 3 years relevant experience.
• Minimum 12 months experience as a mechanical or mechatronics technician maintaining industrial plant and equipment.
• Strong fault‑finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and prepare technical drawings (SolidWorks/CAD).
• Good understanding of WHS and safe handling of chemicals.
• Experience with spray‑foam or plural‑component spray equipment is highly regarded.
