Mechanic – Fleet Maintenance

About the role

Workforce Extensions is recruiting on behalf of Wimmera Mallee Waste, a waste collection business in Western Victoria, for a mechanic to help maintain its fleet at the Horsham depot. The role suits someone who enjoys working across different vehicles and equipment, solving mechanical problems and taking ownership of their work, without the pressures of a busy commercial workshop. It is full-time, Monday to Friday with no weekend work.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs across a range of vehicles and equipment
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
• Complete inspections and preventative maintenance
• Keep service records up to date and identify maintenance requirements
• Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to plan and prioritise repairs
• Maintain a safe and organised workshop

Required profile

• Practical mechanical ability and a reliable, solutions-focused approach; formal qualifications are not strictly required
• Ability to work independently, use initiative and ask for support when needed
• A current driver's licence; an HC licence is highly regarded
• Experience with trucks, diesel engines, agricultural equipment, plant, hydraulics or light vehicles is valuable
