Master (Vessel <45m) – Marine Crew

About the role

The Master will lead the safe navigation and operation of vessels under 45 metres for NRMA Marine, working a 7‑day roster primarily on weekends. You will ensure vessel readiness, crew performance and passenger safety throughout each voyage.

Key responsibilities

• Navigate and operate the vessel in compliance with maritime regulations and company guidelines.
• Maintain vessel systems, paperwork and safety management documentation.
• Manage crew attendance, performance, training, and compliance with safety and conduct standards.
• Oversee passenger safety and satisfaction, including security threat response and emergency procedures.
• Ensure vessel cleanliness, order, and readiness for service.

Required profile

• Current Master licence for vessels under 45 m (minimum).
• Current MED2 certification (minimum).
• Certificate of Local Knowledge (Port Jackson).
• Current First Aid Certificate and Medical Fitness Certificate (AMSA or equivalent).
• Working with Children’s Check.
• Strong line handling and seamanship skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Safety Management Systems and ability to promote a safe work culture.
• Responsible Service of Alcohol (desirable).
• High level of self‑motivation, organisational ability and professional presentation.
