Manager, Global Events Security

About the role

Gartner's Protective Services team provides security support for events and offices around the world. As Manager, Global Events Security, you will lead security and safety programs for high-profile events, manage risk in dynamic environments and partner with internal and external stakeholders. The role suits a security professional who enjoys a fast-paced, global setting and solves complex challenges while delivering exceptional service.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, identify and implement security and safety standards, guidelines, plans and measures for Gartner events based on type, location and risk profile
• Partner with Gartner's conferences and events teams to determine and implement security measures
• Manage event security vendors so that planning and on-site security meet Gartner standards
• Build relationships with venue security and safety teams, venue management and local law enforcement
• Ensure events, venues and vendor services meet legal requirements for security and health and safety
• Implement crisis management plans and respond to emergencies while maintaining client and security relationships
• Execute executive and VIP security standards and partner with GSS partners on intelligence gathering and notification
• Liaise with external industry resources such as law enforcement, government, emergency responders and industry peers
• Support other executive protection, regional and site-specific security incidents

Required profile

• 7-10 years of event security operations experience desired, preferably in private-sector organizations for events up to 10,000 people
• Fluent English; strong Japanese listening and speaking skills preferred
• Ability to travel globally up to 40% and work across APAC markets, especially Australia, Japan and India
• Current passport required
• Ability to work evening or weekend hours for events and incident response, and to perform routine security functions including standing at stationary posts

Required skills

• Managing security vendors, guard services and hotel/venue security teams
• Threat management, threat assessment, protective intelligence and personal protective processes
• Knowledge of industry-specific legislation and compliance requirements
• Microsoft Office and communications software
• Industry certifications preferred but not required
